Water Mitigation
Moisture Mapping
It may be hard to tell if you've had a water loss. Some telling signs may be damages such as cupping, warping, loose materials and the more obvious, water staining. A good way to determine how extensive the damage could be, is to start with finding a wet spot (usually around plumbing) and moving outward until dry. Always checking the surrounding areas that may be affected as well.
Investigating
Moisture mapping can be a crucial part of determining the cause of loss. In some cases, you can tell right away. For instance, let's say, a leaking p-tap or a toilet supply valve. Other times, there may be a leaking pipe in the wall or crawlspace. In these situations, materials may need to be removed to determine the source.

This stage can be the most stressful part of the Mitigation process for the Homeowner. It is at this point that we find out just how extensive the damage actually is. There could be many underlying issues. Once affected materials are removed to the structure (framing, subfloor, studs) and properly treated, we can begin the drying process
